Choose a gradient then click OK
When you are more used to using the Paint Shop Pro program
you can adjust your gradients for yourself.
When you get time have a play around with these.
4. Select flood
fill!

Place your cursor on your transparent image
and press the left mouse button.
5. Here is what my image looks like,
filled with the gradient of my choice.
6. Now go to the photograph of the rose.
Zoom in on the photo with the magnifying glass if you need to.
I know I find this helps.
7. Now select the selections tool.

Make sure your tool options box is visible.
If it is not visible go to 'View',
then select toolbars
and make sure 'Tools Options Palette' is checked.

8. This box will hover until you move your cursor onto it.

This does take a bit of getting used to.

These are the settings to use for this tutorial.
9. Place your cursor somewhere in the middle of the main rose.
Holding down the left mouse buttone select an area,
as shown below.
10. Then go to 'Edit' and select 'Copy'
11. Now go to the image you have filled with your gradient.
12. Then go to 'Edit', then 'Paste'
and then move your cursor to 'As New Selection'
Place the selection where you want it,
and then click the left mouse button.
You can undo this step
by going to Edit and down to Undo.
Now go to 'Selections' and choose 'Select None'
13. You now need the text tool.

You can do lots of fancy text with Paint Shop Pro,
but we are using standard text for this tutorial.
14. Place your cursor somewhere on your image
and press the left mouse button.
This box will appear.
Please choose these settings.

Type text in the text box here.
Click OK
15. Go to 'Effects' and move your cursor down
to '3D Effects',
then across and down to 'Inner Bevel'.
These were my settings but you can choose your own.
I also added a drop shadow effect too.

16. Now go to 'Selections' and choose 'Select None'
17. Move your cursor to the rectangle,
just under the word
Style and hold down the left mouse button.
Important! Keep holding it down.
This little box pops up again!
and as you do moving your cursor to select this (brush).

The styles boxes will look something that looks like this now,
though the colours may be different.

Tip!
If you hover your cursor over places,
this will tell you what you are
seeing.
18. Take your cursor to the rectangle,
just above the word textures.
You
will notice the cursor changes into a colour dropper.

This is how you choose a background
colour.
Click once and this box will pop up.

Do not be put off.
I was and now
know what I have been missing.
You will notice the colour dropper is
active here too!
You can click on one of the basic colours to the left,
or to choose a shade,
click somewhere around the circle
and then to
choose a shade of that colour click on the inner square.
You will notice
you can see the colour you have chosen,
where it says 'new colour'.
19. Now go to Image - then Add Border - and this box pops up.
(If a window pops up telling you,
that the function can
only be performed on a singe layer,
click yes.)

You can change these settings to suit
yourself.
Click OK
You should have a border with the colour of
your choice around your image now.
20. Now select the magic wand.
The options for the wand should be set as below.

Click once on your border.
21. Go to 'Effects' move your cursor down to '3D Effects'
then across and down to 'Outer Bevel'.

Your image will look something like this,
depending on the colour of your border.

22. Go to 'Effects' move your cursor down to 'Reflection Effects',
then across and down to 'Pattern'
Here are my settings.

Now go to 'Selections' and choose 'Select None'
Here is my Rose Greeting.

Save your image!
